SHORT TAKES : Show’s Demise Perturbs Petula

LONDON — Petula Clark says she’s “stunned and shocked” that her show “Someone Like You” has been closed in London after only a five-week run in the West End. Clark, who had big hits in the ‘60s with “Downtown” and “I Know a Place,” conceived and co-wrote the show, but it had been plagued by bad reviews and dwindling audiences.
Last week, producer Harold Fielding closed the show because he could no longer sustain the financial losses.
