Faced with rising crime in the city, the City Council on Tuesday unanimously agreed to raise funding for increased sheriff services in May and June, the last two months of the fiscal year. No plans have been made to boost patrols for 1990-91.
The city, which pays about $2 million a year for law enforcement, will increase that amount by $85,000 over the next two months. The money will bring an additional five officers to the city, or about a 25% increase over current patrols, said City Manager Frank Ruiz.
The city is served by deputies from the sheriff’s substation in the City of Industry.
