World IN BRIEF : FRANCE : Drug Firm Halts Output After Threat

A drug company halted production at its factory outside Paris and ordered its products removed from drugstore shelves after tests indicated that an extortionist had contaminated some of its medicine with sulfuric acid. Smith Kline & French said tests uncovered contamination in an bottle of anti-parasite medication called Zentel after threats were received from someone trying to extort $1 million.
