DANA POINT : Gas Line Work to Delay Traffic
Traffic delays are expected along Coast Highway from Crown Valley Parkway to Niguel Road while an underground natural gas line is being installed, according to a spokeswoman for the Southern California Gas Co.
S.E. Pipeline of Santa Fe Springs is installing a 16-inch pipe underneath the highway to replace the 12-inch line that has been in place since 1929, said Gail Roseen, district manager for the gas company.
This phase, the third phase of a $21.3-million pipeline replacement project, began at 5th Street in South Laguna last summer. The initial phase, which ran from Del Obispo Street to Niguel Road, began in 1986.
The project is expected to cause delays on Coast Highway until early June.
Construction along the highway takes place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, Roseen said. Workers will take a week off starting Monday for Easter vacation, she said.
