HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Wichmann, Notre Dame Stop Chaminade

Cary Wichmann limited Chaminade High to four hits as Notre Dame cruised to an easy 9-1 victory over the Eagles on Friday in a San Fernando League opener at Chaminade.
Bill Blair reached Wichmann for a second-inning home run, but the junior right-hander sailed to his third victory in four decisions, improving his two-year record to 15-3.
“My arm was a bit sore yesterday, but I felt fine today,” he said.
Notre Dame (6-5-1, 1-0 in league play) tagged Chaminade left-hander Greg Galloway (2-1) for 12 hits before he was relieved in the seventh.
With Notre Dame leading, 2-1, after two innings, Chris Prince hit a two-run single in the third to give the Knights a 4-1 lead. Shortstop Ed Maldonado added a two-run double in the fifth, and pinch-hitter Steve Quaile cracked a two-run homer to left.
Chaminade dropped to 7-5-1, 0-1 in league play.
