‘Hypocritical’ Oath
I am outraged!
Terminal patients suffering physically and emotionally who beg doctors to allow them to die with dignity are denied that right. Through the legal system, patients and loved ones must fight the doctors’ and hospital’s ethics, a battle that could be won or lost.
Hector Bojado, a former patient of UCLA Medical Center, Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach and UCI Medical Center, didn’t want to die. Bojado, a heart patient, could not raise the money for a transplant operation and did not have his day in court. Where were the doctors and hospital administrators hiding when he fell short of funds?
I thought doctors took a Hippocratic oath to save lives to the best of their ability. Sounds like a hypocritical oath to me!
