WORLD : Japan Again Can Call Cambodia

TOKYO — Telephone service from Japan to Cambodia resumed today after a 15-year cutoff, according to KDD, Japan’s largest international telecommunications company.
Service, which is routed through Moscow, will be available 24 hours a day, but customers will have to wait an average of one to two hours after placing their calls through an operator, a KDD official said.
Calls will cost $19 for the first three minutes and $3.20 for each extra minute, he said.
Telecommunication service between Japan and Cambodia was cut near the end of the Vietnam War in 1975.
