Austrian rookie Christian Orlainsky upset Phil Mahre to win the U.S. Pro Ski Tour slalom run during intermittent snow flurries at Beaver Creek, Colo.
Orlainsky edged Mahre by a tenth of a second and moved up to seventh in the overall standings. The victory was worth $10,000.
