Anaheim--Vegas Train
Your editorial (Feb. 11) regarding train proposals made reference to the “so-called ‘gambler’s special’ between Anaheim and Las Vegas” as perhaps not helping commuters. It is time that you stop referring to this train as a “gambler’s special,” because it gives a frivolous connotation to this transportation system.
Not only do many people travel to Las Vegas for business who may take advantage of this new system, but the proposed station in Victorville will probably turn the Victorville-Anaheim leg of the run into a “commuter’s special.” Affordable housing on generous-sized lots has caused the Victorville area to boom. Many of these people commute--some even to Long Beach. The train service will probably remove more cars from our freeway system than anyone has taken the time to calculate.
