The Clippers, saving their best exhibition showing for the last game, defeated the Golden State Warriors, 137-128, Friday night before a crowd of 7,646 at the Sports Arena.
By winning their second straight, the Clippers, who open the regular season next Friday at home against Houston, finished the exhibition season 3-4. Golden State is 5-2, with one game remaining.
Gary Grant had 28 points and 20 assists for the Clippers, and Reggie Williams had 23. Mitch Richmond led the Warriors with 30.
“We got out and ran,” Clipper Coach Don Casey said. “We got some easy baskets because we’re in good shape, and we have to keep that up. We had some defensive breakdowns, but there were a lot of hopeful signs.”
