BAGHDAD, Iraq — Representatives of Arab political parties and the PLO agreed Friday to form a new group to support the Palestinian uprising in Israeli-occupied territories.
The plan to set up the Arab Popular Front was approved by representatives from Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania, Tunisia and Lebanon and the Palestine Liberation Organization, the Iraqi News Agency said.
“The Arab political parties agreed on the necessity of stepping up their support for the glorious stone-throwing revolution and to extend to it all the requirements of steadfastness and continuation,” a statement said.
The statement said Iraq’s ruling Baath Party and the PLO will contact all other Arab parties and political organizations to prepare for another meeting in Baghdad before Dec. 9, the second anniversary of the start of the Palestinian uprising.
