SANTA ANA : Body Found in Motel Remains Unclaimed
- Share via
The manager of the Portofino Motel in Santa Ana told police last January that a maid had discovered the body of a young man in one of the rooms.
More than nine months later, the corpse remains unclaimed, and Orange County coroner’s officials Friday appealed for the public’s assistance.
Senior Deputy Coroner Cherry Van Stee said Victorino (Jorge) Jiminez Montez died after a drug overdose Jan. 19. Officials identified Montez, 31, by matching his fingerprints with police records.
Van Stee said attempts to locate Montez’s family have been unsuccessful. If the family is not located, “the alternative would be to turn over the body to the county administrator for cremation or burial,” she said. “But we are making a last effort at this.”
Anyone having information on Montez’s family can call the coroner’s office at (714) 647-7400.
