Sheriff’s deputies mounted a “full-blown search and rescue” Friday for an 80-year-old man who became separated from his son while hunting near Palomar Mountain, authorities said.
Deputies, dogs and helicopters had all been involved by late Friday night in the search for the man, who became separated from his son about 10:30 a.m. at the 6-mile marker on East Grade Road, south of Palomar Observatory, according to Pat McNew, a dispatcher with the Sheriff’s Department.
The man’s son reported him missing about 1:20 p.m., McNew said. She declined to release the identity of either of the men.
