CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : CALIFORNIA : Special Lotto Draw Gives a 2nd Chance

If your Lotto numbers don’t match the winning six on Saturday’s drawing, hold on to that ticket. California State Lottery officials are going to give you a second chance in a “Dream Birthday” drawing immediately after the regular drawing. A grand prize of $100,000 will be awarded to one winner whose ticket matches all six numbers in the Dream Birthday drawing. But there is a catch: The entire $100,000 has to be spent within a 24-hour period on the winner’s next birthday. If more than one ticket wins the grand prize--or the allocated number of prizes in any category--the winners will equally divide the amounts. Up to 10 winners will collect $10,000 for five of six numbers plus the bonus--a prize also to be spent on the next birthday. And 300 players will win $500 in Lotto tickets on their birthdays if they match five of six numbers.
