Longshot Casadys Caper Wins at Los Alamitos

LOS ALAMITOS — Casadys Caper, a 7-1 longshot, defeated five older claiming horses in the seventh race Wednesday night at Los Alamitos Race Course. Ridden by Ralph Pauline, the 4-year-old gelding beat favored Candy Horse and Bigger Better Deal to win by a head in 17.79 seconds.
Candy Horse broke on top but Casadys Caper and Bigger Better Deal started to pull away from the field midway through the race, finishing three-quarters of a length in front of third place finisher Winghill Bill.
Casadys Caper paid $16.40, $6.00 and $3.80. Bigger Better Deal paid $4.60 and $3.00. Winghill Bill returned $3.60.
