Suit Filed Against Campeau Corp.: Campeau Corp. and its chairman, Robert Campeau, were accused of securities law violations in a class-action suit filed in a Manhattan federal court. The suit alleges that the firm made false and misleading statements about its financial condition. The company’s disclosure of debt problems sent the stock price tumbling in September. A Campeau spokesman said the firm had no comment. Separately, a Campeau spokeswoman also declined comment on a report in a Tokyo newspaper that the Tokyu Department Store in Tokyo had offered to buy Campeau’s Bloomingdale’s chain for $1.3 billion.
