Dameworth Bidding for Title Repeat in Kenny Staub Race
Bryan Dameworth of Agoura High will defend his individual cross-country title in today’s Kenny Staub Invitational at Crescenta Valley Park. The large-schools division race starts at 9 a.m.
Dameworth, the two-time defending state Division I champion, will lead a Charger squad that is the top-ranked team in the Southern Section 2-A Division and favored in today’s race.
Agoura will be challenged by Thousand Oaks, which finished seventh in last year’s 4-A championships.
The Agoura girls, ranked first in the 2-A, are also favored.
Junior Deena Drossin will pace the Chargers, runners-up in the past two state Division I championships.
Drossin won the state Division I title as a freshman and placed third last year.
Channel Islands, the sixth-ranked team in the 4-A, heads the list of area challengers.
