Pasadena : Guatemalans Will Speak

Leaders of Guatemalan human rights groups Friday will discuss the wave of assassinations and bombings in their country during a panel discussion, “Guatemalan Repression on the Rise.”
Scheduled to speak are Margarita de Garcia, a representative of the Mutual Support Group; Mario Palma Acevedo, a member of the teachers union that recently carried out a two-month strike, and Acuaro Portillo, a member of the San Carlo University Students’ Assn.
The discussion will begin at 7 p.m. at the junior high classroom at Sequoyah School, 535 S. Pasadena Ave., Pasadena. There is no charge, and child care will be provided. For more information, call the Sequoyah Study Group at (818) 795-4351.
