A 29-year-old Arcadia hiker who stumbled over a precipice and onto a ledge in the Eaton Canyon area of Angeles National Forest was discovered Tuesday morning after spending more than 15 hours on the ledge in nothing but a T-shirt and shorts, authorities said.
Brice Boyd was rescued by the Altadena Search and Rescue Team about 9:30 a.m. after a woman hiker spotted him perched on the ledge, where he landed after stumbling over the edge of a precipice about 6 p.m. Monday, sheriff’s deputies said. The woman ran about a mile to a phone to call for help.
A Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopter flew Boyd to Verdugo Hills Hospital, where he was in stable condition with a fractured rib and internal injuries.
Deputies said the warm weather enabled Boyd to survive the night on the ledge in light clothing.
