Casting Jewish Actors as Jewish Characters

How ironic that a producer of “The Golden Girls” and “Empty Nest” would state that, in the past, there was a “general avoidance of any real ethnicity” on network television.
Those shows are set in Miami , where almost half the population is Latino, yet do you ever see any Latinos in them? Or in most TV shows, for that matter? Come to think of it, there is not one Latino as a regular cast member in any of this season’s new shows!
Guess I’m off to cable.
