WORLD : Soviets Urge Environment Summit

UNITED NATIONS — The Soviet Union proposed today that a U.N. conference on the environment in 1992 should be held at the summit level.
At a press conference, Soviet Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Petrovsky, referring to preparations being made for an international conference on environmental problems, said: “In order to give a strong push to the practical deeds in the field of environment . . . this international conference of 1992 should be held at the summit level and should adopt some kind of a code of environmental behavior.”
