Large Cocaine Cache Seized; 2 Arrested
Investigators arrested a 35-year-old Arizona man and a 17-year-old Texas youth in Monrovia and seized 270 pounds of cocaine--valued at $36.9 million--found hidden in the back of a pickup truck, authorities said Tuesday.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Kathryn Nielsen said Eduardo Corrales of Douglas, Ariz., and the teen-ager, whose name was withheld because of his age, were booked on suspicion of sale and possession of cocaine. Bail for Corrales was set at $2 million. The youth was taken to juvenile hall.
Members of the San Gabriel Valley Narcotics Enforcement Team, a 13-agency task force composed of state, county and local law enforcement officers, arrested the pair at 6:30 p.m. Monday at a Monrovia storage facility.
The facility had been under surveillance for one day.
