WASHINGTON — US Sprint today said it will expand and upgrade the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s nationwide data network for criminal investigations.
The value of the new service is estimated at $23 million over 10 years. The data network expansion is part of FTS2000, the government’s new telecommunications system, US Sprint said.
The company will upgrade the FBI’s computer applications communications network, enabling FBI agents at more than 500 locations across the country to send and receive classified voice, data and image transmissions faster and with greater security and accuracy.
