Upjohn Co., Kalamazoo, Mich., has announced that Lawrence C. Hoff, president and chief operating officer, will retire as an officer after 40 years with the company. Hoff will remain on the company’s board. Theodore Cooper, chairman and chief executive, will add the title of president, effective Jan. 1, 1990, when Hoff retires. Hoff, 60, was president of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Assn. in 1984 and chairman, 1987-88.
