CARBO, Va. — About 100 striking members of the United Mine Workers remained inside a processing plant Monday, a day after taking over the plant’s control room to bring attention to their contract dispute, state police said.
The nonviolent takeover Sunday was at the Moss No. 3 processing plant, a Pittston Coal Group facility that has been the scene of hundreds of demonstrations since the UMW struck Pittston on April 5 after working 14 months without a contract.
