THE SIDELINES : San Diego Wins ’92 All-Star Game

SAN DIEGO — The 1992 All-Star Game will be played at San Diego’s Jack Murphy Stadium on Tuesday, July 14, National League President Bill White said today following a meeting of baseball’s executive council in Milwaukee.
The Padres announced the selection in a statement this morning.
San Diego, which last played host to the All-Star Game in 1978, beat Houston, Montreal and Philadelphia as potential sites for the game.
San Diego business and community leaders made a presentation last June in Kansas City.
