SportScope : Dominguez Hills Women to Be Hosts at Soccer Tournament Starting Friday
- Share via
Cal State Dominguez Hills will play host to an invitational women’s soccer tournament this weekend, beginning Friday with a pair of games at 2:30 p.m.
On the upper campus field, the ninth-ranked Lady Toro play third-ranked Sonoma State in an early season showdown that could mean a lot to both teams when post-season berths are awarded in November.
Because both teams play independent schedules, victories over top-ranked opponents weigh heavily in the awarding of playoff spots.
In the other 2:30 game, UC Santa Barbara, ranked 15th, plays UC Irvine on the lower campus field.
The tournament ends Sunday with UCSB meeting Sonoma State at 11 a.m., followed by Dominguez Hills and Irvine, both on the lower field. Also, the Toro men’s team (2-1) will play the Sonoma State men at 3 p.m. Sunday on the lower field.
Lower field tickets are $2 Friday and $3 for all games Sunday. Admission to the upper field is free.
