Buena to Face Stingy Defense of Thousand Oaks

Thousand Oaks High, coming off a shutout victory in its opener last week, will play Buena at 7:30 tonight in a nonleague football game at Ventura High.
The Lancers, ranked fourth in Division II of the Southern Section, limited San Marcos to 35 total yards in their 27-0 victory. Buena, ranked seventh in the same division, outlasted Westlake, 35-30, in its first game.
Senior quarterback Jason Isaacs passed for 177 yards and two touchdowns against Westlake, and tailback Tony Williams rushed for 141 yards. Buena amassed 396 yards in offense.
Against Thousand Oaks, however, the task might be more difficult.
“We can’t afford to get into that type of shoot-out,” Buena Coach Rick Scott said. “Their defense is so great they could probably shut out their whole schedule.”
The Bulldogs beat Thousand Oaks twice last season, including in the first round of the playoffs, en route to the division semifinals.
The Lancers, behind fullback Chris Foster’s 78 yards, rushed for 235 yards against San Marcos.
Glendale and La Canada also will meet tonight at 7:30, in a nonleague game at La Canada. Last week, Glendale fell to Alhambra, 19-10, and La Canada lost to Crescenta Valley, 13-7.
