Surgery for Kohl Today

BREMEN, West Germany — Chancellor Helmut Kohl will have an operation on his prostate gland today and will be hospitalized for around nine days, aides in the ruling party said.
The operation is intended to relieve a benign swelling of the gland, which has troubled Kohl since he developed cystitis two weeks ago.
