The “Crystal Anniversary” party held at the Art Institute of Southern California in Laguna Beach on Sept. 9 raised about $15,000.

Art lovers paid $125 each to dine on Chinese cuisine at the affair which celebrated the 15th anniversary of Designing Women, an arts support group founded by Muriel Reynolds.

Among guests: Anne Colin; Jean Tandowsky; Beverly White; Joleen Parham; Nancy Snyder; Herta Anderson; and D. N. Evans, a Laguna Beach-based fashion creator who presented ethnic fashions during the evening.

Susan Beechner was chairwoman.

The “Western Barbecue” held in Eagle Country in Irvine on Sept. 7 raised about $25,000 for the Patty and George Hoag Cancer Center of Newport Beach.

Paul Coulter was chairman.

“A Salute to Medical Research” party held at the South Coast Plaza Crystal Court in Costa Mesa on Sept. 9 raised about $20,000 for UCI Health Sciences.

Jim Slemons and Ben Harris were co-chairmen.

The cocktail party and art auction held at the Newport Beach home of Dr. and Mrs. Stephen Auerbach on Sept. 10 raised about $17,000 for the American Paralysis Assn.

Jackie O’Hara and Jackie Allen were co-chairwomen.
