P.M. BRIEFING : Dow, United Enter Plastics Venture

MIDLAND, Mich. — Dow Chemical Co. and United Technologies Corp. today announced a joint venture to make plastics for the aerospace, defense and automotive industries.
Terms of the agreement were withheld. The companies said in a joint statement that the venture will focus on making materials for United Technologies’ Sikorsky Aircraft division.
The new company, Dow-United Technologies Composite Products, will employ about 500 people at its headquarters in Stratford, Conn., and others at existing Dow facilities in Midland and the Sikorsky plant in Tallassee, Ala.
