Grand Metropolitan PLC has named a former executive with Pepsi-Cola International to be president and chief executive at its Haagen-Dazs subsidiary. The new president, Ove Sorensen, will direct all worldwide operations of Haagen-Dazs, a premium ice cream brand, including Haagen-Dazs U.S.A., with annual sales of approximately $250 million, and Haagen-Dazs International, with annual sales of about $80 million.
Sorensen, 47, who assumes his new duties immediately, was senior vice president-marketing and sales at Pepsi-Cola International, a division of Pepsico. Before joining Pepsico, he held executive positions with Mars Inc., Cavenham Ltd., W. R. Grace and Ted Bates Advertising.
Sorensen will be based at the headquarters office of Haagen-Dazs in Teaneck, N.J.
