WYANDOTTE, Mich. — A father whose car plunged into the Detroit River, drowning his four children, was ordered Friday to stand trial for murdering the youngsters and trying to kill their mother.
“I’m going to rule that the evidence presented by the prosecution in this case has established there was a willful, deliberate premeditated killing of human beings,” Wyandotte District Judge Lawrence Emmert said at the conclusion of a preliminary examination.
Lawrence DeLisle has blamed the crash on a leg cramp. His wife, Suzanne, has supported his version of the Aug. 3 incident.
DeLisle, 28, drove the family station wagon through a wooden barrier and into the Detroit River in Wyandotte, a suburb of Detroit.
