Morris Gets New Post at Atlantic Records
Doug Morris, the president of Atlantic Records, has been given the additional title of chief operating officer, strengthening his position as heir apparent to Atlantic Chairman and Chief Executive Ahmet M. Ertegun.
Although he is 65, Ertegun said he has no immediate plans to retire from the company he founded in 1947. Atlantic Records is part of Warner Communications Inc., which is being acquired by Time Inc. to form Time Warner Inc.
Morris, 50, already had day-to-day responsibility for Atlantic operations, so the promotion is more of a recognition of his achievements than a change of duties, company officials said.
