Lotto Odds

I am outraged by the announcement made Aug. 17 that the California Lotto would be increased to 53 (numbers) from 49. If anything, the numbers should be decreased, say to 45. Instead of making it more difficult to hit a big payoff, make it easier so that more people will benefit. I don’t go with the reasoning that higher odds will increase the number of people playing.
It has always been my belief that the money should be spread around more. Instead of one person winning $50 million, why not spread it around and let 50 people win $1 million each?
I hope the Lottery Commission reconsiders its decision. I am sure the majority of players would prefer the odds go down instead of up.
