Whittaker to Sell Metals Unit: Whittaker Corp. said it has reached an agreement in principle to sell its Whittaker Metals unit to Rio Algom Inc. of Minneapolis. The sale, which is part of Los Angeles-based Whittaker’s previously announced divestiture program, is contingent upon the negotiation of a definitive agreement and other conditions. It is expected to close in the fall. Terms of the sale were not disclosed. Whittaker Metals distributes steel, aluminum and other metal products from four facilities in Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma. Vincent Metals, which is the metals distribution unit of Rio Algom, will assume responsibility for those plants.
