Veiled Threat: Iran Needs Black Cloth From Oman

MUSCAT, Oman — Iran wants to buy 1 million yards of black cloth from Oman to make women’s veils because the Islamic republic’s factories cannot produce enough of the material, an Iranian Embassy spokesman said Thursday.
The two countries also explored the possibility of joint procurement of raw materials and Iran’s utilizing of Oman’s production facilities. Oman is one of the regional Arab states that maintained friendly ties with Iran during the Persian Gulf War.
