P.M. BRIEFING : BA Crews Strike Over Stewardess

LONDON — British Airways cancelled more than half its European and domestic flights today as short-haul cabin crews went on a 24-hour strike over the sacking of a stewardess, a BA spokesman said.
More than 40 flights in and out of Heathrow Airport were cancelled before 8 a.m. Among the destinations affected were Dublin, Hamburg, Istanbul and Turin.
BA maintained services to major continental capitals including Paris, Rome and Madrid. Long-haul flights, including Concorde, were unaffected.
