The State : Early Primary Date Backed

Californians strongly support the idea of an earlier primary election date that presumably would give them a bigger say in who becomes President, but they do not like the idea of paying for the change. A California Poll of 754 registered voters showed that 61% of both Democrats and Republicans favor moving up the date from June. On the other hand, only 14% backed the plan when told it could cost the state about $40 million.
