Kaiser Steel’s Fontana Plant Sold Again: Oregon Steel Mills Inc. said it bought a steel plate mill in Fontana from California Steel Industries Inc. Terms weren’t disclosed. Oregon Steel did not buy the building that houses the mill or the surrounding land; both will be leased. The mill, with an annual rolling capacity of 750,000 tons, is part of the former Kaiser Steel plant that was closed in 1983. California Steel has not operated the mill since 1987. The final agreement is subject to the approval of the shareholders of California Steel and other approvals.
