Tom Wilson’s sacrifice fly drove in the winning run and the Fullerton Angels defeated Woodland Hills, 10-9, in 10 innings Tuesday to win the American Legion state title at Yountville, Calif.
Fullerton scored five runs in the ninth, including a three-run home run by Tho Nguyen that cut the lead to 9-8. Chris Cochell, son of Cal State Fullerton Coach Larry Cochell, then scored the trying run on a wild pitch.
Greg Coleman walked to open the 10th, stole second and went to third on a throwing error before scoring on Wilson’s sacrifice fly.
