Karajan’s will was opened this week at Samaden, near St. Moritz, Switzerland, where he had a residence, but an attorney declined comment on the financial disposition. The fortune of the conductor, who is survived by his wife, Eoeliette, and two daughters, has been estimated in published reports at about $242 million.
