Santa Clarita Fires City Plans Examiner
Santa Clarita city officials on Monday fired a plans examiner who is under investigation for allegedly using his position with the city to steer private consulting work to himself.
At the city’s request, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating, Sheriff’s Lt. Harvey Cantor said. Cantor identified the employee as Miguel Enrique Zepeda-Vaquero, 43, of Lancaster.
Assistant City Manager Ken Pulskamp announced Zepeda-Vaquero’s dismissal Monday, but would not elaborate.
Zepeda-Vaquero is an employee of Willdan Associates, a consulting firm working for the city, and served as a building and safety plans examiner, Cantor said. He said city officials accused Zepeda-Vaquero of offering to perform work for citizens privately, rather than referring those inquiries to the city.
