Sports Briefs : Cerritos Wins JC Title
Cerritos College won its ninth junior college baseball state championship last weekend by defeating Sacramento City College, 7-5, in Sacramento.
49ers Bound for Omaha
Cal State Long Beach, 50-13 in its first season under Coach Dave Snow, will play Texas at 2 p.m. Saturday in the first round of the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
Rams, Dons Seek Titles
Two area high school baseball teams will appear in Dodger Stadium Saturday. Millikan will play El Dorado for the 5-A championship at 7:30 p.m. and Cerritos will play Hart for the 4-A title at 4:30.
A Softball Classic
St. Joseph High will play Gahr in the 5-A softball finals Saturday night at 8 at Mayfair Park in Lakewood. The game will feature the area’s top pitchers--Lisa Fernandez of St. Joseph and De De Weiman of Gahr.
