Rick Pitino, coach of the New York Knicks, has informally agreed to become the Kentucky’s basketball coach, according to a published report. Pitino, 36, was expected to announce his decision Thursday at a news conference in Lexington, the Louisville Courier-Journal reported.
The newspaper said its report was based on two unidentified sources.
Kentucky athletic director C.M. Newton and university president David Roselle would not comment on whether Pitino had accepted the job. Pitino could not be reached.
