Myerson Boyfriend Leaves U.S. Prison

NEW YORK — Carl (Andy) Capasso, former Miss America Bess Myerson’s boyfriend, was released from a federal prison Friday and entered a halfway house where he will stay for a month, officials said.
Capasso, a millionaire sewer contractor, arrived at Chrysalis House in Manhattan in the afternoon. The halfway house is run by Project Return, a nonprofit human services agency that contracts with the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
Capasso, Myerson and retired state Supreme Court Justice Hortense Gabel were acquitted in December of participating in a conspiracy to reduce Capasso’s alimony payments to his ex-wife.
His sentence on an unrelated tax evasion conviction expires June 26, said Greg Bogdan, a Bureau of Prisons spokesman. He has been imprisoned in the Allenwood minimum security prison in Pennsylvania since June 26, 1987.
