JVC Co. of America said Thursday it is moving its western regional headquarters from Compton to Cypress.
The company said it will employ 130 at a new 160,000-square-foot, two-story office and warehouse complex under construction in a business park called Cypress-Pointe. The building is scheduled to be completed in October.
The electronics products maker said it picked Cypress because several of its competitors are nearby and the area is also convenient to the port of Long Beach.
The Cypress area also “is surrounded by a quality labor pool,” said Robert Kojima, general manager of the company’s western region.
CypressPointe is a 48-acre, mixed-use business park being developed by Overton, Moore & Associates at the southwest corner of Valley View Street and Cerritos Avenue.
JVC is a unit of Victor Co. of Japan Ltd., one of the world’s largest makers of audio and video equipment. The company developed the VHS video recorder format.
