Venice : Homeless Programs Funded
The County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved $45,000 in county grants for homeless programs in Venice and Long Beach. Another $5,000 will go to a food bank at a community and senior citizens center in East Compton.
The allocations come from $50,000 set aside annually for homeless agencies in each of the five supervisorial districts.
On Supervisor Deane Dana’s recommendation, the Low Income and Elderly Community Assistance Center on Westminster Avenue in Venice was awarded $23,000, while the downtown Long Beach Homeless Shelter on Chestnut Avenue will get $22,000 this year.
