Santa Monica : Auditorium Crowd Control
Armed with a “Dear Abby” column, City Councilwoman Christine Reed is demanding that the city do something about crowd control at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.
A Sherman Oaks resident wrote to the advice columnist in early May, citing the dangers of a “churning riptide of humanity” at a concert in the auditorium less than a month after unruly crowds at a soccer match in Sheffield, England, left 93 people dead.
The reader said a similar tragedy could occur at concerts at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.
