Sheff Heads List of South All-Stars

Laguna Hills High School outfielder Chris Sheff, who holds the Orange County career record for hits, heads the list of selections for the South team that will participate in the Orange County All-Star baseball game June 13 at Glover Stadium in Anaheim.
Sheff has 129 hits entering the Southern Section 3-A division quarterfinals on Friday. He has signed a letter of intent to attend Pepperdine.
The 22-man squad includes five catchers--Dave Dieter of University, Mike Helm of Laguna Hills, Rob Ickes of Mater Dei, Jason Parsons of La Quinta and Julio Vargas of Santa Ana--and the county’s top pitcher, Tony Pena of Mater Dei. Pena has won 22 games in two seasons.
Bob Canary of Dana Hills will coach the South team and will be assisted by Vince Brown of Tustin and Dave Demarest of La Quinta.
